My dear Kacvey,

You must be by now aware that Rady Mom, a Khmer American, has been elected to the Massachusetts State House. Rady is the first Khmer American elected to that official position in the entire USA. You should warmly congratulate him for his political achievement.

At the same time, one can wonder whether the Khmer Overseas who are now sitting in the national assembly in Phnom Penh possess the overall credentials, capabilities, courage and pride to compete and to run for public offices in their country as exemplified by Rady Mom?

Update:

On 13 February 2015 (and a Friday!), a breaking news took EVERYBODY by surprise, including his own party: a Khmer-American deputy representing Kampot resigns from the national assembly with immediate effect and without even informing his own party! The link will tell you the story http://www.national-assembly.org.kh/article/866

Wouldn’t “the culture of dialogue” be down the drain, would it? “Charité bien ordonnée commence par soi-même”, n’est-ce-pas, disait l’autre.

Rumor was that the ex-deputy has found out that the grass is greener in the prairie of the other party! Who betrays whom?

Update:

On 8 November 2016, Rady Mom has been re-elected for a 2nd term.

Warmest Congratulations for your hard work to serve the Khmer-American community in Lowell.
