My dear Kacvey,
What a sad day for Cambodia on this Monday 16 November 2015!
While France is still mourning the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday 13 November 2015, Cambodia starts to mourn the death of its democracy murdered by its own national assembly which is supposed to represent it and to uphold its value and honor for the people of the country.
The manipulation by the ruling party which holds the majority of seats at the national assembly to unconsciously, impudently and hastily strip the leader of the opposition of his parliamentary privileges and immunities is the confirmation that the autocrats in the country have collectively plunged the knife into the heart of democracy, spewing its blood into the Tonlé Buon Mouk.
Herodotus, once, said: “There is nothing more foolish, nothing more given to outrage than a useless mob.”
Dear Kacvey,
Why should the Cambodian democracy have died on November 16, 2015? Sam Rainsy faced the same situation in 2004 and spent 2 years in self-imposed exile until February 2006 and once again in 2009 when he had to wait until 2013 before being allowed to return to Cambodia. He now faces the same situation There is nothing new in Cambodia.
The only difference is that he is now the leader of an opposition party which can potentially win the coming elections.
But as far as democracy is concerned the CNRP itself buried it when it renounced to demand an independent investigation into the massive irregularities during the 2013 elections. From that day on, what happens now could be expected.
I otherwise share your sadness before the hopeless deterioration of the political situation in Cambodia.
Regards
Thomico

My dear Kacvey,
Who’s say there is democracy in Kambodia ?
Many people, Khmer and aliens profited from what’s is fame of the country.
At this time, when some Khmer families can spent a couple hundred of dollars easily on their meal, many other are struggling to have two dollars to feed theirs each day.
What is democracy ?
Your friend,
Han.
